Nigel Pullman attended Sherborne School in Dorset and was indentured as an apprentice to the Leathersellers' Company. He was commissioned into the Royal Corps of Signals and reached the rank of Captain. He then pursued a career with the Financial Times and later became Clerk to the World Traders' Company. In 2010 he became Master of the Leathersellers' Company and the following year he was elected as one of the City's two Sheriffs.
